Synopsis
One person out of every thousand is born with autism. It follows that China has over one million autism patients. David is one of them: he looks absent-minded, repeats other peoples words, swims with amazing ease, keeps everything at home in exact order and maybe he is not totally aware of his mothers death some years ago. Working in an aquarium, Sam Wong takes tender care of this twenty-two-year-old son of his. With the generous help of the neighbors, the two live happily together. Yet, the father understands very well that in the end, he will have to depart from the world, leaving his son alone and that day will come sooner than everyone is ready to believe.
In the movie, Sam(Jet Li) tried to teach his son to be able to take care of himself before Sam dies of cancer. I think he is worried about his son's future without his father's help. His son, David, didn't understand what his father wanted him to do but he loved his father so he tried to be a good son.
The movie was simple and natural but it made me emotional.
I want you to see the movie because Jet Li's acting is awesome. I read he wanted to act the father without receiving a talent fee and he gave the advance ticket sales to charity.
When I saw the movie, I could not stop my tears. Actually, I was crying for more than half of the movie.
Oh, don't forget to listen to the theme song of the movie.
This song was composed by Joe Hisaishi, one of the famous japanese composers. He is known for his work composing many songs for Hayao Miyazaki's films(Studio Ghibli) including "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind", "Castle in the Sky", "My Neighbor Totoro", and so on.
My rating:★★★★
